| In reality, there are only five members of the G20 that really matter: the US, the EU, China, Japan, and South Korea. The US, EU, and China matter because they are by far the largest economies in the world (the fourth largest, Japan, doesn't even come close). And Japan and South Korea matter because they (along with China) hold the majority of debt issued by the US and EU member-states. If the world is going to right itself from its current economic funk, more likely than not the solution will arise from those five economies finally acting together to make something happen. |
