| Also the problem with this list isn't even the glaring omissions so much as, you include a bunch of teams no one hates or really cares about. The Spurs aren't hated, they're just dull, same as the good Pistons teams from earlier this decade. No one HATES them. And no one except maybe Auburn hates Alabama. Alabama, Oklahoma, and Texas are the three dominant programs no one really hates. People hate Florida and USC - not because they're dominant, but because they're scum. Similarly your Miami information is out of date, people hated them (justifiably) in the 80s and 90s, and maybe resented their being so good in the early 2000s, but no one hates Miami right now. They run a regular program, they aren't dominant, etc. No one hates them really. I'd even take issue with the long-term viability of the Patriots as a hated team. The hate has been conspicuously absent since they stopped winning big. That's what separates them from ND, Duke, or the three baseball teams - when those teams stop winning, people hate them even more, since they keep getting the same amount of coverage. It just creates more resentment. The Pats don't have that - maybe the only NFL team that gets that sort of coverage (where even when they're terrible it's a story) are the Cowboys. |
