| @jeff: Why shouldn't Kiss be there? They sold the most albums of any artist in the '70's, brought the live experience to a whole new level of entertainment, and inspired a whole generation of players to pick up instruments. (Guitar World had Ace Frehley listed as the #7 influential guitarist of all-time - not for his playing ability, but for making people WANT to play guitar.) The Vh1 list used viewer voting, always a recipe for disaster, and if you saw the countdown, the "musicians" they polled for opinions were somewhat suspect - people like Chris Daughtry and Nelly, who havenever had an original music moment in their careers. Their original list from the late '90's was much better. I'd like Vh1's explanation how Eric Clapton and Buddy Holly can go from being in the Top 30 on the original to completely off the list in 10 years. |
