And I believe Puerto Rico has a secessionist movement.

Read the note: "Not including dependencies." The source is information accreted over many years.

I think Ogaden should be accepted for Ethiopia

@HolgerDanske: Yes, I considered putting it in as a separate entry, but I tried my best to have just one movement per country. Otherwise India alone would probably have a couple of dozen entries. The organization listed for Ethiopia is OLF, which clearly makes the correct answer Oromia.

How about Xinjiang province in China? Plenty of riots and revolting going on there now.

See comment above. I tried to list only one movement for each country concerned, with a few transnational exceptions.

It is not my source, but the Wikipedia article "List of active autonomist and secessionist movements" probably lists all of the ones I used.

Seriously, how about Texas? (At least according to its governor...) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Secession_Movement#The_Modern_Movement

Hehe, don't get me wrong, there certainly is an independence movement in Texas, but it's very marginalized (sarcastic opposition parties notwithstanding). Alaska's secessionist movement would be a much better choice imho. You come up with very interesting quizzes, but they'd be much stronger if you actually used a source.

Somaliland in Somalia is a good candidate for this quiz, it declared independance from Somalia in 1991 and has been autonomous since then.

@Spl89: As the note says, I did not include areas that are de facto independent.

@TreehuggnCowgirl: I listed a place earlier in the comments where the information can probably be confirmed. I have informally studied topics like this for years, so I can't provide a single source.

@Sesel: In order for a Sporcle quiz to be valid, a source is needed. "information accreted over many years" is not a valid source.

Cornwall should possibly be included even if only as a bonus. Even though it's viewed as something of a joke by the rest of the UK Cornish sepratists still exist. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/crime/article2010217.ece
