| The Asianness of Chaim Weizmann, Golda Meir and David Ben-Gurion, who were all born in Poland, is dubious, especially for Weizmann, who lived in Britain for most of his life. Beyond that, the list is pretty ridiculously random. Where's the Qin Shihuangdi? A number of other Chinese emperors probably belong on the list. And a lot of these people don't really seem to belong at all - Edward Said was an academic; Le Duc Tho was a Communist party apparatchik of no especial significance. And so forth. Also, calling the last Shah a "Reformist" is rather flagrantly offensive - the guy was a brutal dictator, with a torture-loving secret police and everything. |
