The one thing I would add is that, even impressive as this is, Claremont also PRACTICALLY created all the new X-Men (Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Storm, Colossus), as well as a couple members of the old X-Men, as well as characters such as Professor X and (especially) Magneto. He took characters who in many of these cases were blank slates, and invented real people. This is the case with all the new X-Men but also Magneto. Plus there are many other characters he inherited whose books he wrote, and he, again, defined them. Claremont IMO is the best superhero writer of all time. Just a gifted storyteller and plotter, who had a knack for creating great characters, and who really got into each character's head. |
