Rockgolf: Regarding Constantine, as the game's own instructions state, "•Includes ALL characters owned by DC Comics." Vertigo is merely an imprint of DC; that is to say, Vertigo is OWNED by DC. This does NOT mean that all Vertigo titles or characters are owned by DC. Most Vertigo properties--such as "American Vampire," "Northlanders" and "Fables"--are technically owned by their creators* but ALL the characters that originated in a DC title, whether Swamp Thing, the Sandman/Morpheus or John Constantine, ARE owned by DC, even if a specific individual or creative team is credited as creator (Swamp Thing, for instance, is credited as "created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson" but is still owned by DC Comics, even when the title was published through Vertigo). It's also worth mentioning that the "John Constantine, Hellblazer" series began as a DC title (and ran for 62 issues under the DC banner) plus he made roughly 40-45 appearances in other DC books before the Vertigo imprint began (including an appearance in the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" series). Whether Comic Vine considers Constantine to be a "Vertigo" character is not really pertinent; Vertigo is owned by DC, so Swamp Thing and Constantine (along with Animal Man, Tim Hunter, and Shade the Changing Man, among others) should still be counted as DC characters for purposes of this quiz.
I do, however, agree with you that the Looney Tunes characters should be recalculated, though I believe that Bugs's DC total would be well over 200. Bugs has appeared in almost every issue of "Looney Tunes" that's been published (latest issue number being #211) plus his own 3-issue mini-series published by DC in 1990, a 4-issue mini-series from 2000 ("Superman & Bugs Bunny"), the "Space Jam" adaptation and several issues of "Tiny Toon Adventures" magazine.
*And this may be a moot point soon. The Vertigo imprint is undergoing some changes that haven't been fully detailed as yet. In May, for instance, the only ongoing Vertigo titles will be "Fables," its spinoff |
