	Although most of these have lost their trademarks over the years, I still find it interesting that these brand names are part of our everyday vocabulary. Hope you'll find this as enlightening as I did.

	There are plenty of others like Rayon, Nylon, Teflon, Velcro etc. It also depends on what English speaking country you live in, for instance I would say Elastoplast instead of Band Aid and would never call it Jell-O. The most obvious brand name that is in use where I live is Hoover for a vacuum cleaner, which is used as a noun to describe the appliance and as a verb to describe the action sush as 'I'm going to Hoover the carpet' or even 'I need to do the Hoovering'.

	I've never heard Pilates used as a generic term for a physical fitness system. Anyone I've ever heard talking about Pilates was using the actual Pilates system. I also don't think of bubble wrap as being transparent. I tried Saran wrap and Cellophane for that one. Really fun quiz though.

	How about Zamboni for ice rink resurfacer? We also have Hoover as a term for vacuum cleaner in the UK as mentioned above.

	definitely you should accept saran wrap for the bubble wrap question. for the walkman question the clue shoulde be "portable audio cassette PLAYER." You should also accept Tobasco (without the "sauce"). And "physical fitness system" could also be Stairmaster.

	I think I'll switch out Pilates for Hoover, and I'll specify that its U.K. only. I'll tinker with the Bubble Wrap hint to make it more obvious, but I'll also add Saran and Cellophane as alternates. Thanks for Zamboni, I'll find a way to add it in, as well as Velcro. It's actually "TAbasco" not "TObasco" sauce, and I do accept just "Tabasco", although I'll make the incorrect one an alternate. Thanks for the help everyone.

	I disagree that iPod is used generically, and the clue for "zipper" could be a little less vague.

	You could be right, it could just be the fact that everyone owns one and therefore refer to the mp3 player as an iPod. Although it's one of the most gotten answers, so I'll leave it in. I disagree with you about zipper though, I think it's a pretty fair clue.

	Boo I didnt get to finish! I must be a slow typer, either that or try to not watch TV at the same time. I was stumped by bubble wrap and Bic (I know) and I tried tit tape and not scotch tape. Aside from me being an idiot, thumbs up for another good quiz Saulmeister.

	some of these are too complex. I had no idea what "Plastc Air-Filled Hemispheres providing cushioning for precious items" or "vacuum flask" were getting at. You could mention something about hot drinks for thermos and that bubble wrap is fun to pop, for example. Those two were just unapproachable.

	I see where you are coming from, but the idea I was going for the hints was giving the actual name of the product. The funny thing is that most people just assume "bubble wrap" is what it is, and don't actually realize how it's "Plastic Air-Filled Hemispheres providing cushioning for precious items". Same idea with the Thermos.

	I really like this quiz; I do not think that iPod is too generic, because either most people own one or everyone just uses it to describe any mp3 player, so I hear it a lot.

	I'd also suggest adding "sellotape", but as an alternative for "scotch tape" (in the UK, "sellotape" is used generically for adhesive tape just as "scotch tape" is in the US; wikipedia confirms this).

	Great quiz! This concept has spawned my absolute favorite word in the U.S. legal system- "Genericide." Genericide is the act of a manufacturer allowing their product to become a generic term, as many of these have. Companies go to incredible lengths to prevent it from happening. Take Band-Aid for example. They've actually switched all their packaging (and their website) to say "Band-Aid Brand Adhesive Bandages" (www.bandaid.com) just to remind you that "Band-Aid" is a brand name and is still protected under trademark law. Try slipping "Genericide" into dinner conversation sometime...

	Hah, yes, Band-Aid loves reminding everyone that they are a brand name. I remember a recent commercial they had...went something like "I am stuck on Band Aid brand. I have a feeling I'd get very strange looks if if tried to slip "genericide" into a conversation though. Glad you liked the quiz.

	@johnnyboy180 "Bic" isn't common, but I've heard some people use it. Some of these I wasn't sure about and some I still don't know. I had no idea "aspirin" was originally a brand, but I saw it is was now when looking for the word "generonym." Sporcle already published a quiz like this: http://www.sporcle.com/games/g/generonyms

	Great quiz, and super fun! Could you accept "adobe photoshop" as well as just "photoshop" ... I know that defeats the purpose if you put the company's name in front but it was still confusing when it didn't work. :)
