I'd really like some feedback on this one. Too hard/too easy, more/less time, and anything else that may need improving.

good one, maybe a few more answers or less time, 35% getting every answer is too much

Good point, I'll throw in a couple more questions. I only wish there was an option to put 1:30 for the time.

I liked it, but thought there were too many questions with the same answers. Admittedly that's hard to avoid without going into uncomfortably large numbers, but it still seemed perhaps excessive on the 20s and 48s.

I noticed that too, but you said it, it is pretty hard to avoid without making the numbers way too complex for quick mental math.

Fun quiz, it's amazing how often my first instinct is wrong on these. You could always make a more challenging sequel for those who like to do complex mental math.

3 seconds to spare. A few too similar IMHO such as 2,3,4 and 4,3.

Not enough time for something so difficult. Took me one whole minute just to answer one problem.

Time seemed right to me, based on the current bell curve. Unlike the Sporcle "knowledge quizzes", everyone attempting this quiz should be doing so because they understand the concept of the LCM. Therefore, given enough time, everyone should get 100%. So, the challenge here is not just to get them all right (which, theoretically, everyone should do), it's to get them all right under pressure.

Don't mean to be overly picky, but I can't help but feel the question is badly worded. There's a difference between LOWEST common multiple, and LEAST common multiple.

I think the time on this one is perfect. 100% with 14 seconds to spare. I agree with caramba. If you know what LCM means, then you should be able to answer any question, no matter how large the number. Giving more time just ensures that more people will get high scores. Is that really the point of making quizzes? Making them so easy that everyone is a winner?

@Elma Macbetsy: Least common multiple and lowest common multiple are exactly the same thing. The word least and lowest are synonyms. If something is the least, then it's also the lowest... and vice versa. The only difference is that lowest can also refer to height, but that's obviously not the case since we're dealing with numbers.

@MovieDynamic: Seeing as 5.3% of people answered them all I'd say it can't be that difficult. Maybe you should've payed more attention in school

@JaxBored: But 'least common' can mean something entirely different, hence where the confusion could arise. I've always referred to it as lowest common multiple.

The quiz is good, it took me lots of attempts to get 100% (with answers hidden of course) which means that it's a challenge but ultimately achievable - the essence of a good quiz in my opinion.

"Least common multiple" means exactly one thing: the least/lowest (they mean the same) number that is a multiple of the given numbers. If you're thinking of factors, you're wrong.

'Least common' could be misconstrued as meaning rare

For those of you complaining that "least common" could be misconstrued as "rare", don't blame the quiz-maker, blame the mathematicians who started that naming convention. Also, feel free to enter what you believe to be the "rarest multiple"...

I've yet to see a quiz where the random order is anything but annoying. This is no exception.

@miyomiyo: that's what I meant, I wasn't complaining at the quizmaker, as I understand that 'least common multiple' is a correct term for this, I was merely pointing out and sympathising with how it could appear confusing, particularly if someone's initially unfamiliar with the concept.

Begging for more time is stupid. Anyone can get 100% right with ample time - this isn't a trivia quiz, it's a timed math quiz. If you need more time, you're not as good at speed math as some of your peers. Period. And that's ok.

Alright, Sporcle published this one a little early. I was hoping to let it sit in the contributed area for a little while longer to get some feedback. To address a couple points brought up: Personally I always referred to the LCM as the "lowest", but I decided to look it up to get a definitive answer, and "least" is the proper term, so as someone said, blame the mathematician. As for the time, I agree it could be difficult if you aren't familiar with the LCM, but it is meant as a quick mental math challenge for those who are. And for the repeating answers, its just inevitable when using LCM without trying to get overly complicated for quick mental math.

Everyone learned LCM in school. Whether you learned it as least common multiple (as I did) or lowest common multiple doesn't matter. Either way you know the acronym LCM so you should know how to do the quiz. I always enjoy the math quizzes. It took me a minute to get rolling since I haven't done anything LCM related in a while, but ended up finishing with 20 seconds left. Good quiz saulmeister.

It would be a lot easier if I had a number pad I suppose. . . But I absolutely despise how the boxes jump around. It's really distracting, and takes at least a second to figure out where you are.

I guess the point is that you're supposed to be looking at the enter box to see which question you're on, not at the question boxes. The random order is actually good for this sort of quiz since it mixes up the order of the questions every time you play the quiz, so that you won't always know whats coming.

I hate the jumping too, and it seems unnecessary, since the quiz randomizes the hints every time it comes up. Is there a way to separate the two? I couldn't do it myself, so it may be a Sporcle limitation. Nice variation on the math quizzes, saulmeister!
