Messed up on alphabetizing a little, but still good.

Here's a suggestion. Sort the whole list regardless of whether it's first or last word. Obviously based on the results, it's a bit simple now. A nice diversity of acts, but I'd like to have seen Moby Grape, Lipps Inc, Beautiful South, and a couple more semi-obscure acts. You could add those and go to 3 columns.

Nice quiz but a little too easy. I got most of them just by looking at the first column. There are so few bands with the same words in them e.g. Arctic [blank].

Either add more groups or cut a couple minutes off this one.

In case you didn't look at my earlier comment, "Rilo" comes after "Public."

Thanks for the feedback. I've fixed the alphabetizing error, shaved some time and sifted out a few of the more obvious answers. Let me know if you think it needs more work.

Black Star may be a band, but that would leave Mazzy and Flag and I'm not familiar with the band Mazzy Flag.

I agree with beavis, 50/58 without looking at the 2nd column and more than a minute left at the end. But good idea anyway.

Perhaps the fact that the first column comprises the first words and the second column the second words should be explicitly stated?

how can "dire" for dire straits be 3% more guessed than "straits" for dire straits....?

Just a guess but... He might have had Straights instead of Straits by mistake so some of those hits went to Straights but when he fixed the rest went to Straits. But 100% of the Dires went to Dire.

Any music quiz that includes the Dead Kennedys, Afghan Whigs and Beautiful South is OK in my book.

New South is also a well known bluegrass band, but the nature of this quiz is odd in that there might be other combos that are out there, but unless the quizmaker knew of them and included them it won't work. Don't know how you could correct if even if you wanted to.

Cat Power is not a band; it's one person's stage name.

Sorry sporcle; this quiz should never have been approved. There are so many obscure combinations that have been made that render many possibile connections. This should be taken down immediately. Great idea, but there is no possible execution of it that would make this quiz work.

No, I mean there are many combinations, while obscure that create duplicates, as have been pointed out. There are other combinations of these exact words that form band names that at one point have been used.
