	Let me just comment before anyone starts fussing. Keep in mind that this is a quiz about the most influential leaders, not the best. Yes, Rommel is low, because he didn't cause the rise or fall of an empire, nor did he bring too much innovation to the military. What innovation he did bring and his service for Germany is what puts him on the list. This is a quiz about those who have influenced history the most, whether through war or by politics.

	First leader of a successful revolution? 200 years of history? Everyone from the past 5000 years of history says hello and is quite peeved. The source is just one man's opinion, extremely misguided IMO.

	I know it's 'influential,' but does that also account for non-military stuff? 'Cuz, even if Washington's only counted for winning the Revolution, that's still pretty important. I'm assuming, though, that it is 'everything this person ever did.'

	I've never been a great admirer of the man, but was a little surprised not to see De Gaulle mentioned - I believe the French would consider him to have been very influential. Also, no Garibaldi? Isn't he considered the unifier of the modern Italian nation?

	As you say, it's not your list, but the author does have some really odd rankings, and there are way too many Americans (I say this as an American, too), and a number of overrated or outright bad generals (MacArthur comes to mind). This probably isn't the place to debate this, though. I do like the quiz.

	I am in no way complaining, I loved the quiz, but aren't Rommel's armor tactics still being taught at the US Military Academy today? He revolutionized tank warfare from literally nothing.

	I don't see on what basis Pizarro comes out as more influential than Cortes. Cortes was first! He influenced Pizarro! I know that the Inca Empire was larger geographically than the Aztec, but that seems like a silly basis for Pizarro being more influential. Cortes was the one who did something new. Pizarro was imitating him.

	I think a good addition for this quiz would be to add the dates of the men's lifespans. I'm also shocked that Muhammad is not on here for waging war against Mecca to launch Islam.

	I can not really understand how George Washington is above Genghis Khan. The rise from a nomadic tribe to one of the largest empires in existance with a written language and fixed capital within his life is a considerably greater legacy than that of George Washington.

	The original author (the book, not the quiz) has a really skewed thought pattern. Too many Americans and yes Im American myself. The omission of Lysander and Alcibiades irks me a little.

	No matter how you describe Rommel he does not belong on this list. Harold Alexander was only guessed more than Alexander the Great because he popsup as soon as "Alexander" is entered. Where are Moses, Joshua, Martel......?

	I think the main problem is not that the author is leaning towards Americans, or Western Civilization. He's just leaning too much toward modern military history, and VERY modern at that. Obviously he's missing a lot of the roots, but this is his book, and just my quiz.

	Another thing that irks me is that Garibaldi is here, but Bismarck isn't? Wasn't unfiying Germany far more difficult (more independent little duchies, states ,cities, etc) then Italy?

	Bismarck wasn't a military commander; he was a politician. Garibaldi commanded armies in Sicily and southern Italy. Helmuth von Moltke, who was the military architect of Prussia's victories in 1866 and 1870, is included on the list.

	Another person who should be here is Yamamoto who was in charge of great Japanese victories in the first half of WWII, including Pearl Harbor. Toyotami Ieyasu, who unified Japan in 1598 should also be here. Me thinks this quiz is racist

	yamamoto is on here. really good quiz, like others i was surprised by the list. the author is a former US army vet who was later a PR guy for Schwarzkopf so that kinda explains why he put washington up top, and a lot of modern americans in general. i think muhammad has gotta be on here. you could argue his actual military actions were relatively small, but conquering areas related to the forceful spread of the new religion has had a lasting impact on the world that endures today. again could be the authors bias creeping in. surprised like someone else that Charles Martel isn't here. i thought most western historians consider the Battle of Tours a pivotal moment in maintaining european and western civilization. anyway good quiz, interesting discussion

	Decent (if sometimes skewed) quiz. A few notes, though: Accept alternates for Eugene (like Prince Eugene or just Eugene); accept Kim for Kim Il-Sung (as is proper); accept alternate spellings of Suleiman (Suleyman, etc); and accept "de Saxe", as that's how he's known.
