| Someone voted exackerly down for his Rope comment. This is typical middle brow behavior. "Oh my God! He criticized a Hitchcock film!" This is the same 'thought' process that results in so many of Hitch's films, including Rope, being so high up. Now I love Hitchcock - he's a master. But Rope is a failure, and even he admitted it was an experiment that quite come off. It's also not an accepted critical classic, everyone in the critical community pretty much having agreed with Hitch. So why is it up there? Well, it's a Hitchcock starring Jimmy Stewart. Must be as good as Vertigo and Rear Window, right? So thinks the unthinking person. And votes accordingly. Whoever voted down exackerly should be ashamed. |
