Thanks mate. Looking at the lyrics makes me appreciate the song even more. As far as I know it wasn't a hit in the U.S. but hopefully this quiz might introduce the song to a few more people.

It's "I could HAVE been someone" not "could OF."

@Mutford: After watching six different live versions I think you're right and I've changed it.I couldn't go by the lyric sites as they copy eachother and all contained numerous mistakes so I went by the video. It didn't stop anyone getting 100% but that's irrelevant now as you've voted it right down, so no one will see or play the quiz anyway. Thanks and happy Christmas.

Good to see this one. Surprised it hasn't had more plays. This may be more official than the general lyrics sites: http://www.shanemacgowan.com/lyrics/fairytale.shtml
Don't know if you've seen the BBC documentary but it's on Youtube at http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3FED02B16926B27D&feature=plcp
And by the way, the correct spelling is Kirsty MacColl.

Thanks georgie. It was doing well votes wise before Mutford gave it 2/5 but most Americans won't know it so it's never going to get thousands of plays. I found another mistake through your link and there's no excuse for spelling Kirsty's name wrong :doh. I will watch that documentary later. Thanks again, you're a gent.

@Mutford: Thanks for revising your rating down to 1/5 now, without the courtesy of a reply. 9 out of 9 people rated this game a 5 but you decided to stop people playing and enjoying it. I see you created a lyric quiz a few days before this that nobody played. How pathetic of you to ruin other people's efforts through what can only be seen as the most infantile jealousy. I see you've voted down other quizes of mine, well done.

Great song, great quiz. Rated 5/5 to help fix the damage done by the spoil-sport above. I've also nominated it in the hopes that it reaches the front page for christmas.

@ Eideticmemory - Thanks very much my friend. I wouldn't mind but 17 people liked it enough to give it 5/5 yet one numpty can ruin it and stop others from playing a quiz that they might enjoy.

I think I could have listened to this song 1,000 times and still never been able to figure out the words "lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed". Shane MacGowan didn't exactly enunciate. Anyway, great song and great quiz.
