Yeah, they had a pretty good QB in Chase Daniels, but they were mainly that high because Big 12 powers like Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas were having bad years by their standards. Missouri was like #3 or #4, then beat #2 Kansas (another overrated team). As you can expect, they lost the B12 title game and dropped like 5 spots.

it would be cool to list how many weeks they were #1 during that span, not just how many stints

Yeah, I'm probably going to change the third column. I would do the teams conferences, but I think that would give it away. Maybe length of the team's most recent stint at the top spot?

I dont think they had football in the 200's. Might want to fix that typo.

A boring list from a boring decade of college football.

It feels good that Florida is always instantly on peoples' minds when they're doing these quizzes. :) Go Gators! CHOMP.

@SEMOredhawks: Nice quiz, but the state's incessant calling him Chase Daniels (it's Chase Daniel) set us back twenty years.

Sorry about the typo, it's fixed. Haha I always did call him Chase Daniels. I was going to do one of these for the '90s but the BCS was formed in '98. Oh well; maybe teams rated number 1 in the AP or Coaches Poll for the '90s?

Hopefully my Southeast Missouri Redhawks will someday grace this list! If they get to FBS, you never know. Hahahahahahahahaha

yeah I thought that West Virginia was #1 when they lost to Pitt but I guess that was the same week Missouri lost to Oklahoma

GO MISSOURI. Not really I just live there, I could of sworn Tennessee was going to be on here but I guess they won their championship in 98 or 99?

Probably could drop the time to 2 or 3 minutes--and I usually don't say that

I don't know about lowering the time; almost everybody gets through the powerhouses easily- 8 of the teams have been entered over 86% of the time. But the other two- Nebraska (about 64%) and especially Missouri (about 35%) require a little more thinking.

I knew it was Chase Daniels team, but for some reason I thought he went to Iowa - I guess it was the black and yellow that threw me off.

Gotta go year by year. If you know the good teams of the 2000's it's pretty easy.

Yeah, it is pretty easy but I feel the random week Mizzou was on top plus teams like Miami and Nebraska who haven't been top 5 teams for a while now balances it some

I added a handful of bonus answers for some teams who almost made #1 or did in the '90s

Interesting how Tennessee is a bonus from 1998 but Florida State is not a bonus from 1999 even though they were #1 wire-to-wire in every poll that year.
