| @quintfan: Based on the map it looks like it's referring to the Bear River Massacre. That was fought against a bunch of Shoshone Indians, which doesn't sound like a Civil War battle to me. Maybe they were sympathizers because the south was fighting the federal government or something. Anyone know anything else?
@save_ferris: I was a little surprised by that too. Figured it had to be some type of naval battle, and after a quick search I was right. Look up Attack on Orleans.
@delmarva: You are correct. The south was trying to open a new front by taking the southwest, gain Pacific coastline, and take the gold and silver mines in the area. |
