Pretty good stuff. One thing you may want to add though is that during WWII, both Hawaii and Alaska were not actually states, the were only administratively governed by the US (they both became states in 1959).

Less time - if I wanted to, I could just name all the states and win.

Oregon was also attacked in WWII. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombardment_of_Fort_Stevens . The Japanese also sent balloon bombs into many other states but again Oregon was the only site of a fatality. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_balloon

take a minute or two off to make it a bit more of a challenge. I took my time and actually thought of answers and got them all with time to spare. Others can simply answer every state in plenty of time. But I see the work you took and enjoyed it!

@armyguy, Yeah I know they weren't states but they were two of the first ones I did so I forgot to back and fix em when I was doing the rest lol. @Riko, I didn't count the fire balloons as battle, but I'm not sure about Oregon. Does that count? If it does I need to add a raid on California in WW2 and a raid on Massachusetts in WW1.

Texas was admitted as a state on December 28, 1845. The Mexican American War took place between 1846-1848.

I just typed all 50 states in alphabetical order, got all the answers, and still had 2 minute 35 seconds left to spare, just so you know. This could be more challenging if there was less time.

@mike: seems like you kind of missed the point of the quiz. It certainly doesn't have to be done the way you did it, that's not the way I did it. Not sure the quiz should be changed just to prevent you from taking it the way you want to. If it's fun for you that way, have at it. It seems like there are plenty of blitzes and typing exercises out there already.

If it wasn't a state at the time of that particular war it shouldn't be included on the list.

Interesting. I really want to know how some of those states were involved in the Civil War. Idaho???

I wish I knew QuintFan, my only clue was that map I included under my sources. I know there were battles on the frontier with units from states like CA and TX in places like New Mexico, so perhaps long ranging units and rangers from opposite sides met up in Idaho.

Massachusetts in WWI? I'll have to look that up sometime.
