	What's your source? Because the CIA World Factbook states that both Micronesia and Marshall Islands attained independence from a UN Trust Territory administered by the US in 1986.

	Wikipedia : Marshall Islands :The independence procedure was formally completed under international law in 1990, when the UN officially ended the Trusteeship status. Micronesia : Complete Independence in 1991 .

	I wonder if Germany should be on this list. I haven't formed an opinion, but while Germany did not gain its independence, so to speak, it became a country, officially, in 1991 when it reunified. I only ask, because many of the countries on this list were countries previously, such as Russia, which ceased to exist with the formation of the Soviet Union, only to reemerge in 1991 with the collapse of the USSR.

	The bundesrepublik has the exact same government system since the 40s. It just gained the extra states from east germany. It's not a new country in the same way yemen is because there wasn't a new united country created, east germany just joined the preexisting Federal Republic of Germany, in the same way that say the rebel confederate states joined the preexisting USA after the end of the american cival war.

	@nebojsakeni It is considered to be a newer country because it was called Serbia and Montenegro before it was called Serbia. Even though it was called Serbia way back in the day it is just like Russia. They were both part of a bigger communist country that dissolved and created their country again.

	What about adding serbia and montenegro... I know they no longer are united, but the country was formed after 1990. Just curious. I think it´s probably better to leave it off. Great quiz!

	Technically, Kosovo is officially not a country as it is not recognized by the UN (last I checked...and I didn't check before taking this quiz).

	@Jeep1964: No, Germany should not be included, as Cestrian pointed out. To elaborate: there never was a country called "West Germany", nor was there an "East Germany", these were just (useful) monikers in the English speaking world wor the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic respectively (West/East are admittedly more descriptive). In 1990 (not 1991 as stated above) the GDR dissolved and its territories joined the FRG much like states joining the USA. The FRG remained the same country, same government (well, not the exact parties and people, but the system), same constitution since 1949 and is the "Germany" you see today. It is still "West Germany" but the "West" moniker isn't needed anymore since only one country called Germany continues to exist.

	Nice quiz but Macedonia declared independence in 1991 and was officially recognized in 1993. So 1994 is incorrect.
