Nice...that was quick. Group A is a joke. At least now the winners of the awesome Group B can safely reach the semis...

i think the whole giving the host country an automatic # 1 seed is bull$hit. isn't it enough that they're automatically in the tournament? (and i'm not just saying this due to today's draw. south africa shouldn't have gotten it last summer, austria and switzerland shouldn't have had it in 2008, etc.) the "group of death" will make for some great games, but i'd rather see the good games in the knockout rounds, not watch whatever 2 mediocre teams come out of there get stomped on by group b's teams. it's times like these i f-ing hate uefa and fifa in general. blatter and platini are incompetent crooks

@ Georgik - So when Denmark play Russia in the 1/4 final they are certain to win?
Dec 3rd, 2011 at 02:45 GMT
My predictions Group A Russia Poland Group B Germany Netherlands Group C Spain Croatia Group D England Ukraine
Dec 3rd, 2011 at 02:46 GMT
@manonthemoon Denmark's only chance to win is Portugal. They will not make it into the quarters
Dec 3rd, 2011 at 03:12 GMT
I predict Russia and Czech Republic to advance from Group A, along with Germany and Netherlands from Group B, Spain and Croatia from Group C, and France and England from Group D. It's absolutely crazy how much talent is concentrated in Groups B and C. In those two groups, only Ireland rank lower than 11th worldwide! No matter what happens, three giants are going down in the group stage. But I think Germany will prevail in their group and the tournament as a whole.
Dec 3rd, 2011 at 03:36 GMT
Man Euro Cups, World Cups, doesn't matter, Portugal ALWAYS gets the Group of Death.
Dec 3rd, 2011 at 03:51 GMT
Probably because Portugal can never manage to win their qualifying group.
Dec 3rd, 2011 at 06:17 GMT
I got 16/16 but only because I seen the draws on the sports channel so much today lol
Dec 3rd, 2011 at 06:18 GMT
Group A: Russia and Czech Republic Group B: Netherlands and Germany Group C: Spain and Italy Group D: France and England.
Dec 3rd, 2011 at 06:50 GMT
2 minutes is too long, try 1.
Dec 3rd, 2011 at 09:02 GMT
It might be too long today, eyhung, but in a year's time, two minutes will be about right.
Dec 3rd, 2011 at 09:58 GMT
Lads, Ireland will definitely win the tournament!
Dec 3rd, 2011 at 11:15 GMT
France and Ireland not in the same group? That could have provided for some fireworks, see Henrys handball and every single Irish citizen being livid about it.
Dec 3rd, 2011 at 13:58 GMT
Guys, remember Greece in 2004?! Look out for a shock I say, how about Sweden?
Dec 3rd, 2011 at 14:21 GMT
Look for an upset, Denmark to come out of group B
Dec 3rd, 2011 at 14:23 GMT
ENGLAND FOR THE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dec 3rd, 2011 at 15:22 GMT
I can't be the only one to notice it, since their last Euro Cup win Greece is the total opposite of Portugal. Especially the World Cup group with Argentina, South Korea and Nigeria.
Dec 3rd, 2011 at 15:24 GMT
Prediction: A1 Russia A2 Poland B1 Germany B2 Netherlands C1 Spain C2 Italy D1 England D2 France.
Dec 3rd, 2011 at 17:31 GMT
In Euro 2008, the Netherlands were predicted to go down in their Group of Death including World Champions Italy and World finalists France. Instead, they smashed them both and after the second match already, qualified themselves for the quarters. Which they then lost against the much lower ranked Russia. Only goes to say: regardless of rankings, there's still a lot that can happen. And Sporcle will be there to make trivial quizzes out of it.

The Vatican doesn't have a football team.
Dec 4th, 2011 at 11:51 GMT
netherlands all the way!!!!!!!
Dec 4th, 2011 at 15:50 GMT
Ukraine for the upset!
Dec 5th, 2011 at 03:30 GMT
Forget about any group of death. Germany will win group and also the tournament! Final will be Germany vs. Spain
Dec 5th, 2011 at 15:29 GMT
In many ways the Euros are a stronger tournament than the world cup. No real whipping boys there, even group A which has the 2004 winner, 2004 semi finalist and 2008 semi finalist.
Dec 5th, 2011 at 18:20 GMT
I can see England reaching the final, they always hope they can win it but they are always extremely overated. This time though I think they've got very good chances. Also Greece will qualify from group A.
Dec 11th, 2011 at 01:48 GMT
@GeorgiK If football was that simple, it wouldn't be watched anywhere near as much as it is! Watch out for an upset. ;)
May 24th, 2012 at 22:32 GMT
wait no Scotland? Oh no of course not.
Jun 2nd, 2012 at 12:08 GMT
England are going to smash the competition and bring home the trophy!
Jun 2nd, 2012 at 19:31 GMT
@GeorgiK Euro 2004 was not that many years ago...keep an eye open for surprises...
Jun 9th, 2012 at 06:03 GMT
Spain and Italy better not sleep on Croatia and Ireland. If any team can pull off the shock of the tournament, it's one of those two teams.
Jun 9th, 2012 at 17:53 GMT
LOL, dont look now, Denmark wins 1-0.
Jun 10th, 2012 at 15:46 GMT
Italy will not get through Group C, as France will not get through Group D. This is an Italy team that has lost to Scotland, and a France team that has lost all talent it had once. If Ireland can outdo Croatia though, they could end up in the semis, as they will probably have one of England or Sweden (more likely Sweden), and they are not the strongest teams. But come on the THREE LIONS!
