The first of more to come. Give me your opinion on the time limit I've set originally (2 minutes) and whether you enjoy these quizzes or not! (The Pokemon used were chosen using a random number generator, covering all four regions).

Really cool, I enjoyed this. I think it definitely needs a lot more time, probably 2-3 more minutes as I struggled to recognize a lot of the more recent ones. Then there's Kangaskhan, which I always get confused with Genghis Khan or Kyrgyzstan. Nice job though, and I'd like to see sequels.

@Saulmeister - lol for getting Kangaskhan and Krygyzstan confused. That's funny! I just took the quiz and took my time, and did it in a little over a minute, but maybe that's because I know the answers. However, as this is the first one, I'm going to experiment with the time according to the comments I get, so for now it's been increased to three minutes.

Pokemon by picture? I can't believe it hasn't been done before (or maybe it has, but I don't think so)! Using the sprites was a very good idea, and as you already know this has massive sequel potential. As for the time, I can't really say because I was able to identify all of them instantly- a bit faster than the average Sporcler. Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to go nickname my Kangaskhan...

@Unidentifiedkiwi (nice username btw) - Yeah it's one of those quizzes where if you are familiar with the Pokemon then the time limit doesn't matter at all, but if you aren't familiar, then you may need time to think. That's why there's no point keeping it on 2 minutes as the veterans won't care how long the time limit is anyway, so I'll keep it at 3 minutes it seems. Just a heads up - I'm putting up part 2 now as I've already made it, and it's slightly different to this one so I want to see how they compare. Look out for it!

Next one should be silhouettes imo. I'm in the "able to identify them all immediately" base so I look forward to some more challenging ones.

it's strange that answer columns correspond to rows in the picture. you might wanna sort the answers by column instead.
Dec 15th, 2009 at 05:28 GMT
Fun quiz, but being a pokemon nerd, I got them easily
Dec 15th, 2009 at 05:35 GMT
@cardboard - ah, I see what you mean, and I agree. Will change it now. @nintendofanboy - The next one will be slightly harder! @rmzy - That's the one!
Dec 15th, 2009 at 07:28 GMT
I decided to stick to this row/column format because sporcle doesn't allow 6 columns to be side by side.
Dec 15th, 2009 at 08:47 GMT
Nice idea :D I'd like to see a R/B/Y version as some of those back sprites are alot more difficult to identify :P
Dec 15th, 2009 at 08:50 GMT
Yepp thas my next idea! Great minds think alike lol. I'll probably put it up tomorrow.

@RomanticWaluigi, right back at you for the username, and can't wait for the new quizzes.

Fun quiz. I was thinking of doing this but I guess I'm not now :P. I found it odd that the rows and columns were reversed for the answers, but I understand why. You could have made the image 5x6. Can't wait for the next one.

A very inventive quiz. Has alot of originality. Nice job.
Dec 15th, 2009 at 17:35 GMT
cool, i like your second one better though :P
Dec 15th, 2009 at 19:09 GMT
I hope that the addition i made to the picture is a nice solution to the rows/columns thing being confusing =) The reason I don't want to have 5 coloumns of x rows is because it stretches down the page.

Loved it. Proper spelling killed me though.
Dec 16th, 2009 at 15:45 GMT
One with only first generation would be nice
Dec 16th, 2009 at 15:53 GMT
Good quiz, got them all =D A good mix of generations in there though; and burmy had me thinking for a while
Dec 18th, 2009 at 10:14 GMT
Nice quiz. I like the idea of mixing gens. Keep it up :D

am i the only one who remembers the ruby/sapphire commercials with people saying (then) new pokemon names in random places. All i remember is the guy standing on a dock shouting at the top of his lungs, KECLEON!!!!
