	Well, technically, Ireland was not a British colony either. It was first a separate kingdom under the legal sovereignty of the parliament in Westminster, and later part of the United Kingdom. India was not a colony, but a theoretically sovereign empire that happened to be administered by British people. Most of Malaysia was a group of British protectorates, not colonies. And so forth.

	Namibia should be a bonus answer. It was occupied under a League of Nations mandate by South Africa while it was still technically under British rule, but it was never official territory of either South Africa or the British.

	Interestingly, these are either island countries or are geographically connected to former British colonies. There's a good reason why continental countries tend to follow the same convention (i.e. what happens at the borders).

	Nepal was never a colony but heavily influenced by Britain and India - which is why Nepalese soldiers still serve in the UK Army (the Gurkhas)
