I can judge the time limit by the distribution curve, and although only 51 people have played so far, if this is a representative sample, then the largest part of the curve is nearer the top, so I guess the time is ok :)

Time is fine and its a great quiz. but I wonder if Im the only one that would have preferred it in alphabetic order? Really hard to get the last once with no reference of either continent or alphabetic position where to find the last once. Just a though. 5/5 orbs.

Kotte and Colombo (or Kot/Col) need to be acceptable per sporcle standard.

Good game will continue to play this one. Just reminds me of how many capitals I don't know or cannot remember under pressure.

Answers in alphabetical order would be a great improvement.

I feel like there was a time in my life where I may have been able to do this quiz (maybe not complete it, but at least do reasonably well). That time is not now. Definitely not now. And definitely not at 1:30AM any other night either.
Jan 5th, 2012 at 15:41 GMT
Given the format, I was expected to see lots more capitals with the same first three letters, but most of time I got one per guess. Thank goodness for the "San"s and "Saint"s!
Jan 5th, 2012 at 15:45 GMT
This is a really tough quiz. I'd like to see an alternative quiz with them in order (I don't necessarily think this one should be changed - this is a fun and rewarding quiz in its own right).
Jan 5th, 2012 at 15:46 GMT
Also, why does this quiz link to "First and Last Letters" quiz?
Jan 5th, 2012 at 15:56 GMT
National capitals? State capitals? European capitals? The instructions could be better-written here.
Jan 5th, 2012 at 16:14 GMT
YES! I fnally got 'Ljubljana' and 'Reykjavík' right first go!
Jan 5th, 2012 at 16:46 GMT
That was interesting. And a learning tool. I'll be playing this one again.
Jan 5th, 2012 at 17:24 GMT
This seemed mostly like "name the world capitals, but sometimes you get a two-fer, and then there's 'San'".
Jan 5th, 2012 at 17:51 GMT
Only on a quiz like this would Paramaribo be in the top 3 most guessed.
Jan 5th, 2012 at 19:35 GMT
How is there a 0.8% discrepancy between Paris and Paramaribo?
Jan 5th, 2012 at 19:51 GMT
It would be nice to see the countries after you guess it right. Good quiz -- I'll keep playing and learning more. Thanks.

Wow, I got only 64 and that made me wonder if I'd even break 100 if given more time or asked to name just the countries instead. Once I saw the results, I think the answers are no and no. Only about 20-30 of the caps I missed have I heard of or could spell (tried Tbilisi twice and got it wrong both times--missed the first "i"), and as for countries... maybe I'd get 20 more than that. Challenging, humbling in fact, but good. Thanks.
Jan 5th, 2012 at 21:31 GMT
maybe a bit short on time. but nice quiz anyway.
Jan 5th, 2012 at 21:32 GMT
You should include Sucre, as that is an official capital of Bolivia, as well as Cape Town and Bloemfontein for South Africa. Also, Dar es Salaam should also be included. I know sites list Dodoma as the capital, but I went to grad school with a Tanzanian who said that Dar es Salaam is considered a capital, despite what American sources indicate. Maybe include it as a bonus?
Jan 5th, 2012 at 21:57 GMT
thewildboo: I think that's the point.
Jan 5th, 2012 at 22:49 GMT
Great quiz but needs more time probably.
Jan 5th, 2012 at 22:54 GMT
I got Nuku'alofa and missed Cairo. Sporcle syndrome.
Jan 5th, 2012 at 23:14 GMT
Guessing paris through guessing paramaribo. Sporcle Syndrome.
Jan 5th, 2012 at 23:42 GMT
Definitely need more time on this one. Maybe 9 minutes? Love the quiz.
Jan 6th, 2012 at 00:29 GMT
Got the first answer listed as my first guess. So proud.
Jan 6th, 2012 at 03:40 GMT
I typed "par" thinking of Paramaribo and not Paris. Sporclitis. Also, "Col" should be a bonus for Colombo, if not an answer.
Jan 6th, 2012 at 14:38 GMT
@tjvhammer If you type "paris", in full, quickly enough it will award you Paris without awarding you Paramaribo. I imagine that's how the discrepancy came about.
Jan 7th, 2012 at 05:07 GMT
I was really hoping that typing the ones I know would help me get a lot of the more obscure ones I haven't learned yet. I'll admit, I was a little bummed when it didn't, but I guess if I'm on this site long enough I'll learn all the capitals.
Jan 7th, 2012 at 05:21 GMT
Harder than I thought it would be.... fun though!
Jan 7th, 2012 at 13:02 GMT
hmmmmm no vienna, as far as im aware its the capital of austria
Jan 8th, 2012 at 12:21 GMT
OK, how is it that less people get PARamaribo than PARis?
Jan 8th, 2012 at 14:42 GMT
At least there was no carping about how to spell Ulaanbaatar.
Jan 9th, 2012 at 00:14 GMT
I've played this about 5 times. Going by my rate of improvement, it should only take another 40 tries to get all 196. I don't think I'm that keen, but it is a good quiz and deceptively difficult.
Jan 11th, 2012 at 14:45 GMT
I feel a sense of pride in sporcle that 14% of people guessed oua (ouagadougou) - only on here would so many people guess that one - I love sporcle :)
Jan 12th, 2012 at 09:11 GMT
7 minutes for the world capitals? C'mon...
Jan 12th, 2012 at 20:54 GMT
I can't do it in 7 minutes :(
Jan 20th, 2012 at 23:10 GMT
Good quiz, but not easy trying to get the lesser-known capitals.
Jan 28th, 2012 at 16:55 GMT
Finally did this on about my 25th try. 0:09 left. First try was 143, I think. Had to figure out how duplicates skewer the totals per continent -- do Europe (incl Ankara) first and it should show 60, for instance. It can be done.
Feb 14th, 2012 at 12:26 GMT
If you type in San, you get like 7 just like that. Big help if you are struggling like me.
