It's interesting to note that the Florida Marlins also have never lost a playoff series. They're quite impressive when they actually make it.

Great quiz, I know this is just for professional sports, but for a collegiate stat, I thought it would be right to mention the fact that UConn basketball, both the men and women, are a perfect 10-0 in championship finals.

@MisterF: Not only have the Marlins gone all the way the two times they made the playoffs, they also have never won their division. They were a wild card team both in '97 and '03!

If you accept Jays, you need to accept Bucs, and DBacks.

I think of the Angels as a long-time successful franchise. Nolan Ryan, Reggie Jackson, the teams they have had the last decade. It amazes me they have only made it to the Series once.

The Milwaukee Bucks? Didn't they win their only finals appearance?

@nycthegreek While the Bucks won in 70-71, they also lost to the Celtics in the finals in the 73-74 season

The Uconn thing is freaking amazing. I'm absolutely shocked by that, especially that the women never fell victim to Pat Summit in a final.

@idpsych: For some reason I found your comment really interesting. While I'd have to say you have the wrong idea (that the Angels are a long-time successful franchise), they could very easily have been in the WS more than once (choke in 82, choke in 86, that weird dropped 3rd strike). But they've really only been consistently successful for the last decade. Prior to that, 3 playoff appearances in first 41 years as franchise.

The Jets have never been in an NFL final. They were the AFL (a seperate league) after the 1968 season and won the Super Bowl. They did not join the NFL until 1970.

would it not be true to include the browns, lions, jaguars, texans, nationals, mariners, bobcats, hornets, grizzlies, clippers, raptors, etc. seeing as all of these teams are undefeated in sports championship games?

Technically, cocky is correct. If you're going to include the Jets, you have to change your wording away from "NFL championship final". The Jets have never won, let alone played in, an NFL championship. When they won Super Bowl III, it was not the NFL's championship game. It was the world championship game played between the NFL champ and AFL champ until Super Bowl V.

Technically, cocky and Clint are wrong, and all the more wrong for being so sure they aren't wrong. The NFL has a rule about what its championships are. For the pre-Super Bowl years, the NFL champion is the NFL champion. For the few years where there was both an NFL championship and a Super Bowl, the Super Bowl winner takes precedence. After the merger, the Super Bowl is the thing. This is not complicated at all.

portland trail blazers: went to the finals in 1977, beat the 76ers in 6. That was their one and only finals appearance. They need to be added to the list.

Drewberry: The Blazers lost to the Pistons in 1990, and Jordan's Bulls in 92.

@drewberry26, you really don't remember Jordan shrugging his shoulder's against the Blazers? One of the most iconic images in the NBA the last 30 years, if not ever. Makes me question your intelligence as a sports fan.

Yea, drewberry, how dare you not remember that iconic NBA image! Your not remembering that iconic sports image makes Sporcle user "bmo1616" seriously question your sports fan intelligence. That is the LAST thing you want. You live for the approval of "bmo1616", and now you've lost it. He's beginning to question - your intelligence as a sports fan. How will you go on?

@chadman583 Nah, it's right. They won SB37 in '03 but for the '02 season. Pats won the SB for the '03 season. Also, until I remember that the Kings originated in Rochester my retarded ass is never gonna ace another quiz involving pre-60s NBA.

It's a fine line between being a dynasty and being a one-hit wonder. Aside from Montana's 49ers, Jordan's Bulls, and Duncan's Spurs, the rest essentially had just one or two good years. Interesting stats.

If listed team names are when they won their championship(s), than the Angels should be Anaheim Angels, not Los Angeles Angels.
