Hey, why not? Verbize all of them, get great past tenses. I totally Belize'd this quiz, even though the time pressure on such quizzes usually gets me Perued before I Brazil.

I typed USA out of total habit and was surprised to see it get accepted. When did it become the Usated States of America? Lol.

If you want FRA, you would need NET and another UNI as well. And technically DEN, too. Easier (and fairer) to stick with actual American countries, rather than worrying about extracontinental nations with American possessions.

Timewise, this quiz is doable. Brainwise, not first thing in the morning.

Many of these are in neither North nor South America. They are Caribbean countries.

I totally didn't get it...where were the first three letters?

Good quiz, and the fact that we only have to type the first three letters makes the quiz more manageable within the one minute time limit. However, I missed an obvious one due to having one eye on the time (Argentina).

It's too bad there are only two countries that share the first three letters.

Great quiz. The 1 min timer keeps it challening. I keep coming 1 or 2 short. What keeps slowing me down is the fact that i'm used to typing the whole name so i often have to delete some things so i can make my next entry.

I'm not sure how we're expected to type in 35 countries in 1 minute. That's less than 2 seconds per country to think and type. Not everybody types 60+ words a minute. Even with 2 minutes, that's less than 4 seconds per country.

I agree with bowsntoys. I was typing as fast as I could, and the minute just flew by. Challenging, though.

Is there a parallel universe where "by first 3 letters" means "type the country's whole name"? I'm sure there are other quizzes already in the offing for Europe, Asia, and Africa, right? (And Oceania, I guess?)

@bowsntoys: Technically a person who types as slow as 20 WPM could complete this quiz in a minute (if they can think of countries fast enough), since a "word" in the WPM scale means five keystrokes and some of the countries share the same first three letters. I think that's a low enough barrier that the quiz is fine as is: tough to complete, but almost everyone has a fair shot.

I'll probably get voted down, but I don't think this quiz was a very good idea. Still, I suppose it would be good if you wanted to learn all the countries but couldn't type very fast. Might have consequences though, like - "Can you name the countries of North America?" "Sure can! Can, Uni, Mex, Gua, Pan,

sporcle should make it so that it manages time after how fast you type on other quizzes or so, I'm a slow typer myself and usually has troubles with theese short quizzes (this one typed all the time, no thinking brakes, but still missed 9) so it would be neat if sporcle made the time manageable, depending on the user. But aweesome quiz, love theese kind of things. Great job RobPro!

Judging by the percentage difference between three of the countries here, it seems not everybody thought to just type "SAI".

Terrible, not just the 1 minute, but the fact that "USA" works for United States of america, and most countries are not even in there! South America my ass! why are the Caribbean islands in there?

I think the right countries are included. Although there are some European countries that have islands in the Americas they are not counted as countries of the Americas. South America has 12 countries and North America has 23. Time is enough, I managed 34 and only failed because I forgot Antigua and Barbuda.

@demonstah and @tunnel: those are possessions/territories, whereas French Guiana is an integral part of France in the same way that Hawaii is part of the United States.

As far as the blitz quizzes, this is one I liked. I think it's doable within the time frame. You still have to remember the countries, but there's enough time to actually type them in. Helps a lot that "sai" gets you several answers and "dom" gets you two more, of course.

@nbalegend8: I'm not sure why "FRE" for French Guiana isn't included either. It's controlled by France, sure, but it's still part of South America.

@adhair - obviously. When discussing borders, this distinction has validity and merit. But for the purposes of this quiz, the distinction is meaningless. @mchamden1 - FRE would get you nowhere, as the country is FRAnce.

As the other 'First 3 Letter Country' quizzes have roughly 50 answers, why not add Oceania to this one to make it as equally challenging as the others.

...do people seriously think the caribbean countries are part of their own separate continent?
