| @marcustullius: The Democratic Party of Burma which is the elected legitimate government of the country (the election results were not accepted by the criminal ruling regime) requests that the international community recognise their country's name as Burma. By calling it Myanmar, you are (intentionally or not) making a political statement that you believe that the current government in Burma is the legitimate government, which means that you willingly support the oppression of an entire nation. Oppression is too nice a word actually, because it encompasses too many horrors in one nice word. How about, in calling it Myanmar, you, personally, support rape, torture, mass murders, and a complete and total oppression of basic freedoms and rights. In fact, If you were in Burma right now, we could not even have this conversation because you would not be allowed internet access. |
