Royal flush is just an ace high straight flush. It's not a seperate hand.

Yeah it is just a straight flush in the end isn't it :P I have always looked at it as the Royal Flush, the best hand, even though it is just the highest straight flush. I shall remove it.

In Video Poker (as well as some table games), it's important to distinguish the Royal Flush differently as it pays differently than any other straight flush. If you learned to play poker through Texas Hold'em or something similar, you may have learned it as an ace-high straight flush.

@elfuego52: Video poker also distinguishes between a pair of Jacks or better and a lower pair - they are both still pairs. I think the quiz is correct to not consider a royal flush as a distinct hand in terms of standard poker definitions - it's just a nickname for a certain variety of that hand. Other hands have nicknames too, like "Cowboys" for a pair of Kings, "Dead Man's Hand" for Aces and 8s and so on.
