Fascinating quiz! Tell us, though--what was your source for this data?

I wasn't expecting so many South American countries on this. Must be lots of unoccupied land down there.

You wouldnt think Nauru even had urban land and considering South America is known for having the worlds largest most tropical fascinating forest...its shocking having so many South American countries here

Good sporcle quiz, very surprising and actually made me learn something useful! It turns out a lot of South American countries have experienced extremely rapid urbanisation over the last 50 years, which partly explains the growth in violent crime and rampant inequality

I'm glad you enjoyed the quiz! I was also intrigued by the high number of South American countries on the list, but that explanation makes sense.

UK-no, Germany-no, Italy-no, Spain-no, Russia-no. Didn't even bother with France because I didn't think it had a chance. Of course.

I'm mildly surprised that the Sammarinese countryside is large enough that someone living on it doesn't make it urban.

Hi, Red_Sox_Fan. I am the curator for Population, and though it pains this Yankee fan to praise any Red Sox Fan, I wanted to say how much I have enjoyed your quizzes. I have made this quiz a Curator's Pick, and it will be highlighted on the Population page. Thanks for providing a fun and educational diversion!

How strange not to see Egypt there... I thought most people had to live in cities, as rural areas are mostly desertic! Now I see I was wrong. And I'm also surprised with France, I would had never said it had more urban percentage than Germany or UK. Never. So thank you RedSox, I learn something new every day!

@cuendillar I bet you said that just so you could show that you know what Sammarinese means. (I'll admit to having had to Google it).

I'm amazed at Australia and New Zealand. All that land to spread out on and they all bunch up together in a few congested cities. Crazy people.

m0ckers: considering that Australia is mostly a giant desert, it doesn't surprise me at all. They have very few usable land down there. And New Zealand isn't a really big country, so they don't so much space as in Australia xD
