Some of these populations are unfeasible. Riverside/SB already has more than 4 million people; it's not going to shrink by almost half. San Antonio's metropolitan area already has about 2 million people; is it not going to grow at all in the next 12 years?

It really bothers me that metro areas are not allowed to cross international boundaries. El Paso/Juarez and to a lesser extent San Diego/Tijuana should be one metro.

An international metro area though, especially at a border like the US-Mexico one, doesn't really function like a single-country one, or a multi-country one with open borders, so I'm OK with them being split.

@SomeoneRandom: Thanks for bringing up what I was going tosay. San Antonio right now has a metro of 2.2 million and is fast growing - could add another half million in 12 years to make this list. Guatemala City is already over4 million. How is the UN doing its counting?

It's a bit ridiculous to say that Havana will lose 900,000 inhabitants in the next twelve years, but it explains (partly) the huge bump that Miami gets.
