A lot of these are a bit of a stretch... Longbottom is just a British surname, comparing a memory diary to an all-knowing psychic Mirror, and an 'Antagonizing tree' category? Anyway, you need to fix your widths (give your questions more room and your answers less) and replace some "who's" (who is) with "whose" (belongs to).

Actually, I believe Rowling did say that Longbottom was taken from Tolkien.

Tolkien created an entire culture, world, and characters before any of it was really created in entertainment. The story itself is better and overall more entertaining than a few teenaged wizards running around in similar environments. Based on what you like, this comment is either going to have 20 red or 20 green arrows. Whatever it is, I still see LOTR as an infinitely better collection of literature.

It doesn't exactly fit, but maybe accept the palantir as an alternate for the last hint. You could also accept Mirrormere, the lake where Durin saw the vision of a crown of stars on his head.

When I saw the title of this quiz, I immediately thought of the section of Mugglenet devoted to this topic.

I kept trying to type Agrajag instead of Aragog. Note to self: giant spiders are not the same thing as bowls of petunias.

Kreacher should be accepted as a substitute for Dobby. Some other ideas: Also devices that render the use invisible: The One Ring vs Invisibility Cloak (you would need to accept answers 1 by 1 to include this one though). Those unaware of the general conflict: Hobbits vs Muggles. Those who "die" only to return to life: Gandalf vs Harry Absolutely awesome quiz!!!

Great quiz i have thought that HP was a copy of LOTR for a long time, and this hits the nail on the head

I knew that the two stories are similar, but until I saw it all lined up, I didn't see how similar they really were. Go LOTR!

Could you maybe accept Treebeard as an alternate for the LOTR angry tree?

I thought about it, but at the end of the day, Treebeard is an Ent and Old Man Willow is a Tree. (Also, this way the quiz weeds out people who haven't read the books)

You could add "Dumbledore's Army" and "Fellowship", feasibly. Great quiz, I have noted the similarities as well!

Also, you could accept "Huorn(s)" for the LOTR angry tree... they are the trees that help the Ents attack Isengard.

Do house-elves really count as gangly? My impression was that they were small and thin. It would be nice for 'Ron Weasley' to be an answer :P Also, does Grindelwald really 'turn' evil or just show his true colours?

Putting "Angry Tree/Treebeard" is more confusing than just "Angry Tree." I thought the answer had to be another ent since "Treebeard" is in the clue. You could put "Angry Tree (not Treebeard)" since Treebeard has nothing to do with the answer.

I'm with those who think Galadriel's Mirror should be acceptable... I typed that in before I got it right. Same thing either way, right? I'm also with Admiral about the Treebeard thing - perhaps putting "(not an Ent)" instead of "Treebeard" would be the clearest thing. Just suggestions, though - love the quiz.

Yeah, I agree with the previous comments concerning the Angry Tree/Treebeard. There are several different seemingly acceptable answers pertaining to angry trees in Lord of the Rings. If you are going to put Treebeard as part of the clue, you should probably accept Ent as an answer or something along those lines. My mind does not jump to Old Man Willow when I think about Treebeard.

@AdmiralMaxtreme...I agree. I spent quite sometime trying everything I could come up with that was ent related, since Treebeard was in the clue. It's misleading to have Treebeard in the clue.

I think that the death eaters should be accepted for "cloaked beings whose presence instills fear".....that's where my mind went first, and there's no doubt that it applies! great quiz!

Raise your hand if you put "Ron Weasley" for gangly creature at the service Harry. Also, could ringwraiths be acceptable? I've only watched the movies so maybe I'm missing something.

Grindelwald is just wrong for the clue. He was never an ally of the protagonist. And I'm not sure that his giving in to his lust for power counts as "turned evil." Having been kicked out of school for evil deeds even before Dumbledore met him, I don't think he was ever really good in the first place.

I agree with those who say Grindlewald doesn't really fit with the clue. Some of the answers I tried that I think would fit better (though still imperfect): Cornelius Fudge, Percy Weasley, Stan Shunpike and Peter Pettigrew.

At the risk of being an anorak: in the film, yes, Frodo is young. In the book he's not - he's much older than Pippin and Merry, and while he hasn't shown his age because of the ring, he's middle aged.

Grindelwald really doesn't fit the answer. Wormtail is probably the best answer, but since he's already up there...*maybe* Cornelius Fudge would work? But he never turned evil, he just was completely ignorant.
