	I didn't understand why Mexico wasn't there with the current drug civil war, but it's because they used the 2008 numbers. The murder rate has doubled to 24 per 100 000 since then (27 199 murders in 2011).

	Jamaica has a history of factional violence based around their political parties. The two major parties, PNP and JLP, aid and abet this violence by recruiting thugs to intimidate voters with violence. It is a perfect example of a democracy gone completely wrong.

	@tvfan3 - I guess it is indicative of the way in which the media present the homicide rate in the US. Having said that, looking through the 2008 data shows that the US rate compared to the sample of first world countries I looked at (Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, NZ, Denmark, Germany, France, Spain, Sweden) show that the US homicide rate is three to four times higher than all of them. I suppose this is the standard the media are measuring against.

	The quiz is over 3 years old but somehow didn't get featured until today. While slightly out of date, it's a good quiz, but I'd really like to see some "bonus answers" for countries that are likely often tried (such as the USA), just to show the actual number and educate us all. I've seen this in similar quizzes, otherwise I wouldn't have brought it up.

	@BunnySMG, your shortened version seems logical, but for whatever reason it's not Sporcle-standard. Maybe Sporcle should publish some sort of Common Abbreviations Style Guide for newer members. For countries, the list would include USA, UK, UAE, CAR, DRC, and Rep Congo (though the latter isn't fully adopted yet)...but of course you are own your own for Kyrgyzstan. As an aside, I've always wanted to created a quiz in which Democratic Republic of the Congo and Dominique Rogers-Cromartie are separate answers and have "DRC" work for one but not the other, just for laughs.

	All this proves is how useless statistics are, as there is a clear bias against countries with small populations. If someone murdered the Pope, then the Vatican would go straight to the top of this list.

	This is a really interesting list of countries. I'm not particularly surprised by the geographic concentrations, but the breakdowns inside them did surprise me -- St. Lucia, St. Vincent, and the Bahamas, but not Haiti (also thought Barbados would be more likely than them). Many central American countries, but not Mexico or Nicaragua? And most surprising to me, Malawi and Zambia but not Zimbabwe? Our (or at least my) perceptions of how chaotic places are seem to be quite inaccurate.
