This quiz is a lovely example of what happens when you don't actually read the statistics you're using. These are most crimes (a) per capita (i.e. the numbers are per 100,000 people), (b) for 25 particular cities, (c) in 2007. Take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_cities_by_crime_rate and you'll see that the two cities with the highest murder rates (for 2008, though you'd imagine 2007 is comparable) are New Orleans and St. Louis, neither of which appear in this quiz. Dallas, 7th on the list here, doesn't even make the top twenty (it's way behind Washington, Oakland, Newark, Atlanta, Miami...). Similarly, Phoenix is "second" in this quiz's list of most car thefts per capita; it's actually 13th on the 2008 list.
All of which is to say: this quiz is utter crap, and it's certainly not remotely what it claims. |
