| @jeffk12: You are correct in a sense about the MVPs dating to 1931. That's when the Baseball Writers' award began. Prior to that, there was the Chalmers award from 1911-1914, and league awards that were operated independently from each other from 1922-28 in the AL, and 1924-29 in the NL. Obviously, they are not the same award, per se, but they were all intended to honor the most valuable player in his respective league, and there was no competing award to create a controversy. I'm not sure if that makes them "official", but in spirit, I'm comfortable with including them. |
