| Here is a tutorial. (spoilers ahoy ..........)
1. (A1) AL East teams are in row 1, and New York teams are in column E, so the Yankees must be in E1.
2. (A6) The Yankees beat the Padres in 1998. E6 tells us that the Florida teams are in column C, so that plus A1 puts the Rays in C1.
3. (C1) The “bird” teams must be adjacent, and since all AL East teams are in row 1, that puts the Orioles in B1. By process of elimination, we can put the other AL East team (Boston) into D1.
4. (B1) We can put the Mets in E2.
5. (E2) The two teams that beat NYY from 2000-2010 are the Marlins and Diamondbacks. Given E6, this means we can place the Marlins into C5.
6. (C5) The Missouri teams are the Cardinals and Royals. The Cardinals must be adjacent to the other “bird” teams, so they are in A2.
7. (A2) The Cardinals beat the Tigers in 2006, and the Giants beat the Tigers in 2012. Since the Giants play in California, they must be in A6. D4 tells us that the California teams in the same league can’t be adjacent, so the only place to put the Dodgers is C6.
8. (A6) If same-state teams besides Florida are adjacent, and the Missouri teams are all in column A, then the Royals must be in A3.
9. (A3) The Twins are in E5.
10 (E5) The Braves are in D2.
11. (D2) There are only 3 “animal” teams left – Cubs, Tigers, and Diamondbacks – and 3 open spots in row 5. This means the Cubs have to be in A5, and the White Sox have to be adjacent to them in B4. A2 tells us that the Tigers are in column B, so that puts them in B5, and the Diamondbacks in D5.
12. (B5 and E1) The Athletics must be in B6, and therefore the Angels are in D6.
13. (A5 and C6) Since there are only 3 “R” teams left (Rangers, Reds, and Rockies), and Ohio teams are in row 3, the Reds must be in B3.
14. (A6 and C6) C3 is the Indians.
15. (A5) A4 can’t be the Rangers, since they have to be adjacent to the Astros and A4 is surrounded. Thus A4 is the Rockies, and B2 is the Rangers. That means the Astros are in C2.
