@TomH1990: it already accepts "Sao Tome and Principe". Often quizzes will display the name in the local language, but in almost all cases the English equivalent is accepted. That's the case here.
Very nice quiz, but why is El Salvador only a bonus? The Spanish province was originally "Provincia De Nuestro Señor Jesus Cristo, El Salvador Del Mundo" ("Province Of Our Lord Jesus Christ, The Savior Of The World"), which was subsequently abbreviated to "El Salvador" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Salvador#Spanish_rule). There's pretty widespread acceptance of Jesus Christ as an historical figure: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historical_Jesus If you contend that the historical record is lacking in this case, is it any better for Helen or Jacob?
The same argument can be made for making Trinidad and Tobago a regular answer. Columbus named the island of Trinidad "La Isla de la Trinidad" ("The Island of the Trinity"): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trinidad_and_Tobago#Tradition The Holy Trinity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trinity) consists of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Son, of course, refers to Jesus Christ. |
