Potentially a good quiz and good practice. But I think 1 minute is unrealistic. Also, although Copernicum was proposed by its discoverers in July 2009, it had to undergo a wait period of 6 months, followed by discussion by IUPAC (I think going on now), then a provisional recommendation available for public comment for 5 months. So, to the best of my knowledge, Copernicum is not official yet.

I figured if there can be a 60 second blitz on element names, this was fair game. Nobody's meant to get them all. And maybe I'm jumping the gun a little on Copernicium, but I fail to see any reason why that name WON'T be approved

Nice challenge! I messed up a bit by not deciding on tactics before I started (eg going in number order, alphabetical, groups etc). Just a little thing, I noticed from the results you have Ds and Rg each assigned to the other's number.

First, Cp is now official, of course. Second, since no one has gotten more than 81 and only 9% have gotten more than 47, you need to increase the time to 2:00 or 2:30. Don't get me wrong; I still really like this quiz. But now that it's been played over 400 times, you need to set the bar a little lower, I think. I bet that will increase the number of visits.

Wow, I've left this for too long. Catherine is right, I always get confused on the proper order after Lawrencium. That has been amended, as well as Cn being the official symbol for Copernicium, Cp has been removed as an alternate

Apparently Seaborgium, Dysprosium, Meitnerium, and such come to my head before the more common ones when I don't have to spell them out.

@Kaira That's the whole point of a 60 second blitz - to see how many you can name in a minute. If you want more time to name them all, try this instead: http://www.sporcle.com/games/elements_abbreviation.php

This quiz is very easy!!!!! If the question is "Can I symbols of the periodic table in 60 seconds?" then the answer is simply "No".

Solid(ish) bell curve with the obvious outliers that are expected with every quiz. Congrats to the 87-91 man, woman, or dare I say child (the next Dalton, Rutherford, and the Curies in one).

@moonman190 quite a few quizzes don't have a bell curve. If there's a bell curve for Colors of the Rainbow I'd be gaping.

Who got between 87 and 91? That seems impossible to me (although I could be mistaken).

got em! three seconds to spare. the key is to do all the single letter ones first and then do the rest systematically while skipping single letters.

Got 64 in my 6th attempt. I tried typing the single letter symbols first, and after that it was just random guessing. Of course, a bit of luck goes a long way, especially since my 2nd best attempt was 52.

The challenge here is to choose an ordering of these 210 characters (preserving digraphs as needed) that is easy to remember and can by typed in 60 seconds. It takes some time to work it out, but you can definitely get them all if you are a decent typist.

The method I used was to make anagrams out of letters which created the symbol for some element when following a given letter. For example, for the first letter C, any of the letters in NUDE FORMALS gives you an element. For the letter T, the letters are LIMB ACHE. Once I was able to remember these (for the difficult letters) I was able to get all 112 elements. You may vote me down for bragging, but I just wanted to share my method and I am curious if others used the same method.

210 keys pressed in 60 seconds? That's 3.5 strokes per second! I think that might break your keyboard.

Wow. With the low time limit, I totally panicked and got some lesser-known ones (Seaborgium, Selenium) and completely forgot ones like oxygen and fluorine. *headdesk*
