Buenos Aires shouldn't be there? The city (without counting the additional metropolitan area) has 2.995.805 inhabitants. ;)

If you include Tampa (which is on the Gulf of Mexico side), why not include the other Gulf cities like Houston, Mobile, Corpus Christi, etc.?

Thanx all 4 your comments. Buenos Aires is in the River Plate, not the Atlantic (I live in Buenos Aires, btw) Take a look: http://www.educared.org.ar/comunidades/tamtam/kmages/rio-de-la-plata.jpg

tobinw: Houston, really? Is far from the sea... Mobile and Corpus Christi are less than 1.000.000 inhabitants.

Newcastle? I live there. We are not on the Atlantic coast. If we are classed as Atlantic then so must all of the cities in the UK, and Newcastle isn't even in the top ten UK cities size-wise!

dazbradley, take a look on Google Earth: the Newcastle metro area (Tyneside) touches the Atlantic coast.

Patricio, Jacksonville is on the Atlantic. The center of the city is not, but according to Wikipedia, the city limits do extend to the Atlantic north of the downtown proper area.

I'm telling you, I live in Tyneside. It doesn't touch the Atlantic. It doesn't even touch the Irish Sea. I live on the coast of the North Sea.

why is boston a bonus. And don't tell me that Boston Harbor and Cape Cod Bay do not count as the Atlantic because you count the Gulf as part of it AND I guarantee that part of the Metro area touches the Atlantic. Same with Providence, Houston, Dallas, New Orleans, Washington...etc.

Unfortunately, your quiz title states on the Atlantic Coast, and therefore all cities on the coasts of seas or gulfs should not count. If you are going to include cities on the seas associated with the Atlantic, then the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea are also parts of the Atlantic Ocean, and their cities should be counted too.
