I know that most of the world is metric, but as a Rhode Islander, the reason my state seems to be used so often for comparing area is not only that she's the smallest state in the Union, but because her land area is just over 1,000 square miles (1,034 to 1,045 sq. miles or about 2,700 sq. km). So it would be nice to give the square miles as well as the square kilometres for the other countries. And I'd always thought that Luxembourg's area was 999 square miles (the World Almanac says it's 998), which would give a much higher proportion of Rhode Island's area than 0.707.
That is unless you're also including Rhode Island's water area (mainly Narragansett Bay which nearly bisects the state) for a total of 1,545 square miles (4,002 sq km, another round number). But if you're using that much larger area, I'm sure there are several more countries not quite as large as Cabo Verde that would slip in under the limbo stick.
