	It'd be interesting to see Argentina's ancestry. Did you know that that there are a large number of Argentinians of Irish origin? They still have Irish accents even though they've never been to Ireland. We're talking a number of generations back here. There are even football clubs named after Irishmen, like O'Higgins'. That's my interesting fact of the day, enjoy!

	There are also Welsh speakers in Argentina, although their numbers are decreasing, and there obviously aren't enough to bring the UK up into this list, but overall not surprising countries.

	@ecco: Yes me too, South America is considered by some Germans to be an almost home from home, due to German settlements there from the time Germany was first a world power, it was also considered a safe route to evade the Nuremberg war crimes trials with huge numbers of former Nazis fleeing to Argentina, Paraguay and Chile after World War II.

	Name of the quiz says nothing about "foreign born" residents. Therefore, either the name of the quiz needs to be revised, or the #1 answer should be Argentina.

	Any specific reason why there are significantly more from Ukraine than Russia? Two quite similar countries culture-wise, and I did therefore think that the most populous (Russia) would be higher up than Ukraine. Anyone?

	@Nol_Solano, most of ukrainians arrived during the late 80's, before the ussr disolved. @johnspartan4187, the Irish/Welsh/British immigration, occurred ruding mid/late 1800's, this means, they were not alive at the time of the census, and their argentinian descendents were. The O'higgins football club and towns around here, are because of a chilean independence leader, Bernardo O'Higgins. I thought there were more croatians 'round here. Taiwan is a surprise for sure, and missing Ecuador a Venezuela as well. I guess the reason why they used the 2001 census, and not 2010, it's because there is more information in the 2011 census than 2010, most countries are grouped under 'Rest of Europe' of 'Rest of America' In the late years, we received a lot of african immigrants, not sure if they are from one country, or various, I asked one of them not long ago and he said Ghana, but I'm not sure about the others.

	Missed my own country, never thought of Argentina as having many Taiwanese. And of course Taiwan is a country, Taiwan has it's own government that runs completely seperately from the PRC. Just because whatever country you live in doesn't recognize Taiwan to appease the PRC doesn't make us any less of a country.

	I tried to make an update, as some results of the 2010 census were already published. The first places are now: (1) Paraguay 550,713 (2) Bolivia 375,272 (3) Chile 191,147 (4) Peru 157,514 (5) Italy 147,499 (6) Uruguay 116,592 (7) Spain 94,030 (8) Brazil 41,330. Unfortunately the list of countries isn't complete because, as marceloOrigoni said, in the results page many of them are grouped under "rest of [N. and S.] America", "rest of Europe", etc. Of course, the trend is towards an increase of South American immigrants and a decrease of European ones, simply because the former continue to arrive and the latter (which came especially after the end of WWII) are dying.

	@Kangrui: the quiz considers data from the 2001 census. But the figures for 2010 show a decrease of Taiwanese (3,511 to 2,875) and a strong increase of continental Chinese (4,184 to 8,929). Many of the recently arrived Chinese own small supermarkets. In Buenos Aires you'll find one every few blocks. If the Simpsons cartoon had been made in Argentina, the owner of the supermarket would have been surely a Chinese and not an Indian.

	@Johnspartan an O'Higgins football club would be, presumably, named after the South American revolutionary Bernardo O'Higgins. O'Higgins was the son of an Irishman who went into the service of Spain and become a colonial governor. Along with Jose San Martin he was one of the chief leaders of the Latin American independence movement in the South of the continent. IIRC in the late 19th-early 20th centuries Argentina engaged in a policy of "whitening" where they encouraged European immigration to the country to offset Indian and Black populations.

	@MetaMarth Taiwan only has that few because the PRC makes other countries recognize either the Republic of China based in Taiwan or the PRC based on the mainland. The United States, for example, doesn't recognize Taiwan but they have unofficial relationships with the country through the "private" American Institute in Taiwan. And haven't you noticed that Taiwan has their own democratically elected president, as opposed to your dictator? I actually feel bad that you "have to say that Taiwan is not a country." No one deserves to be brain-washed by a totalitarian.
