| This is a fascinating angle on U.S. culture / history. If you just looked at the list - nature references, Spanish words, a "Saint" and a "Fort", "New" but not "Old", "Big" and "Grand" but not "Little" - you'd be able to figure out that these were places in the U.S., as opposed to some other English-speaking country. It would be interesting to see a similar quiz for, say, UK or Canada or Australia, for comparison's sake. I'm guessing more references to royalty in the UK and more French articles in Canada, for instance. |
