| T voice another opinion: thanks for accepting Hamburg. As a German I can say that this is the answer any German would give (unless he/she thinks, Munich or Frankfurt may be bigger, a common misconception, but Hamburg is actually roughly Munich plus Frankfurt). Nobody thinks of the Rhein-Ruhr area as a single city. We know it is some gelantinous blob, we do not care too much about the lesser cities, but they are distinct. And people in the area are VERY adamant about that. Ask any Dortmunder whether he is from the same city as a Gelsenkirchner or vice versa, be prepared to run. And even if we thought of the "Pott" as one city, it would never include e.g. Düsseldorf. So this international statistical way of defining it may be alright, but you'd never get anyone from here to guess correctly. |
