| @ssinger70: probably you used a map in Mercator projection, that exaggerates distances for high latitudes. Really Athens is at 2395 km (1488 miles) and Reykjavik only at 1895 km (1177 miles). But it's true that the other two are dubious: Warsaw 1451 km (901 miles) and Stockholm 1435 km (891 miles). Ten miles is too small a difference: I considered St. Paul's for London, the Royal Palace for Stockholm and the Old Market Place for Warsaw, but if you took other places in each capital the distances would vary. Cities, and especially big cities, aren't mathematical points. |
