I got them all after I pulled whitesnake out of my, well, you know. But technically you said "band" and you put Madonna and Bruce Springteen, who are people. So you should put "singer or band" and in that case, add Debbie Gibson, because of the first line, "Debbie just hit the wall..."

Good idea for a quiz! Took me some prompting to remember the start to the second verse, but I got them all. ;-)

1985, by bowling for soup. That's a song? About the eighties? Awesome! I'll have to look for it. Thanks!

The SR-71 version was a little better (even though Mitch wrote both versions), but still a fun song

Great test but there really should be less time. The song is only 3 minutes and you can skip the chorus and get all the answers faster.

so you don't know the song, but you are arguing about what's in it? nice. maybe this is too US-centric for you, too?

I sung it in my head, remembered that Van Halen was mentioned, and absolutely forgot the line for it. Thanks Julia!

@fraac: Those bands are included in the context of "... way before Nirvana" and "not a big Limp Bizkit fan"

Terrible song. That being said, I got them all in 45 seconds, because I listen to terrible music.

@Julia97 The other guy that's singing in Van Halen is Sammy Hagar. He replaced David Lee Roth.

Thank you sporcle. I never heard this song, but since you introduced me to it, I LOVE IT! Anyone else think the singer sounds like Weird Al Yancovic, circa 1985?
