arbitrarychoice originally came up with this concept. His versions of it (so far Australia and USA) are located here: http://www.sporcle.com/user/arbitrarychoice/contributed

I like it, particularly the distance information.

I'm not sure, but I think Gibraltar can be reached from Sicily in a straight line, so UK should be at least a bonus answer. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry.

Indeed it can. Added it as a bonus. Thank you.

Those Caribbean countries were tricky, had to think of the Mediterranean escape route!

Very interesting! I think maybe you should take the "blocked by ---" out of the bonuses, because they gave me some of the answers!

Not a bad suggestion. Instead, I'll say them here: Turkey, Cyprus and Syria are all blocked by the Greek archipelago. Bosnia and Herzegovina's short border in the Adriatic sea is blocked by a few Croatian islands. Grenada is just cut off by Tunisia.

Nice quiz, but Portugal (Madeira) should be a proper answer, not just a bonus. Although Madeira is autonomous, it is still an integral part of Portugal. (Unlike Gibraltar which is a UK dependency.)

Really creative quiz. So this is just based on a map, not as the crow flies on a globe, right?

Yes, it's purely based on the map listed in the source.
