Only de facto borders are counted - that is, countries bordering areas actually controlled by these states, and not ones that they claim, but have no control over.

Need to sort out the alternate answers so stats aren't inaccurate. I got 18/18 but 3 answers are still at 0%

Interesting - involved plenty of guesswork for me, so could possibly be shorter. Good bonuses.

The generally accepted boundaries of Western Sahara has a short 40ish km border with Algeria.

@hminion Yes, but that part of Western Sahara is de facto controlled by Morocco, not the SADR, hence I did not include it. It is a bonus answer though.

It's a good game, a little easy but there's nothing you could have done about that. 5 globes.

I think you need to update your title a little to indicate that you are asking for bordering countries, as opposed to borders.

I think your answers for Nagorno-Karabakh are wrong. It's entirely surrounded by Azerbaijan, and so doesn't border Armenia or Iran. Also, what about including Kosovo? Although many countries in the western world recognise it as independent (including USA and UK), there are still a majority of UN nations that don't.

Thank you. The source I was using was apparently wrong. It's surprisingly not very easy to find good, objective and reliable sources about that topic on the internet.

As for the lack of Kosovo, the purpose of this quiz was to have non-Sporcle countries. Kosovo is featured commonly on Sporcle, many of us know a bit about the geography of it. So is Taiwan, and even though Vatican City is only a UN observer, it more or less speaks for itself.

Since you are following the standards of control, you shouldn't list the palestinian state as bordering Jordan, since they don't control any land on that border.

@ deco: Hong Kong is not considered a country by anyone, as it's well and truly part of China, however, it has different rules applying to it than the rest of China (i.e. it's a Special Administrative Region). So, because it has such different rules, lots of lists look at it separately, as including it with China would skew statistics.
