| Awwww, France(French Guiana) never gets any respect in the South American quizzes. It's the smallest country on the continent. It is an integral part of France (overseas department) in much the same way that Hawaii (non-mainland state) is an integral part of the US (albeit located very far away from the rest of the country). It's not in the same category as New Caledonia (overseas French territory) which would be akin to Puerto Rico (territory) in the US case. I see you have it a bonus answer but I would urge you to upgrade it a regular answer. Look at it this way: there's this blob of land (32,252.7 sq mi) that is clearly on the South American continent and it has to belong to someone, right? It doesn't belong to any of the South American countries. It belongs to France. Moreover, in a very real sense, it *is* France. You can't ignore it. Viva la Guiana! Six minutes may be a little too generous. But if you're going to include France as you should, then it might be alright ;-) Don't leave 191,309 French Guianese homeless. Do it for the children! |
