| Amos Rusie for Christy Mathewson. Before the trade, Rusie hadn't pitched in two seasons, after it he pitched just three games for the Reds, and had an ERA of 8.59 before retiring (again). Mathewson then went out and won 372 games for the Giants as the best pitcher in the National League. To make it worse, the Reds got him back in 1916, when he gave up 8 runs in one game for them. He won the game, and then retired. |
