| I think Nav is referring to Lance Moore's 2 Pt Conversion (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_J0_WL06AAc&NR=1) which was counted somehow despite being knocked loose by the Colts defender. If that's determined as having control then Calvin Johnson for sure had control. According to ESPN, the rule reads: "If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball after he touches the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone. If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, the pass is incomplete. If he regains control prior to the ball touching the ground, the pass is complete. " Maintain control after he touches the ground, check. Ball touched the ground while in his possession, check. The thing that gets me is that he clearly caught it with two hands, switched it to one hand (I think that's two moves in itself), and then when he landed, was so excited that he rolled over and got up with help of the ball. He left the ball on the ground cuz he was so excited he won the game with that catch. With the rule or without the rule, it should have been counted. |
