| I could not find a direct source for this on the Census website, so I instead used Wikipedia, which cited the Census data. I got my answer by checking for the largest city in each metropolitan area that is not the major city. Note that I used the metropolitan area rather than Census statistical area (which is larger). If I felt that there was ambiguity on what was a suburb, I did not include the city. This explains the lack of San Francisco, San Jose, Dallas, Minneapolis, etc. If I missed one of these cases, let me know. Lastly, the population figures may vary in what year they are from (2000, 2008), but in all cases the answer should be correct. |
