@beerslayer: I don't know. I think the reason I was having so much trouble with that last column was BECAUSE the "g" key is struck by the same finger as the "f" key. Even though I knew I needed to type "pugg," my fingers were responding to what my eyes were seeing so I typed, "puff," requiring me to backspace and start over. At the start of the column, I had just under a minute left on the game (not bragging, just a fact) and, thanks to so many typos, at the 10-second mark, I still had the last three words; I'd gotten to the last word with just 2 seconds left and just threw in the towel. (8 seconds to type 2 words? No way I was going to get that last one in 2 seconds.)
I almost think replacing the "f" with "j" or even "q" might have been easier. (Okay--maybe not the "q." Even typing "u-less" "Q" words--like "Qatar" and "Qom" and "Qaddafi"--requires some definite thought to avoid typing "qu.") |
