| As the info blurb says, I tried to veer from internationally common surnames. "Smith" was #1 for the U.K, USA, and Australia; Gonzalez had a monopoly on much of Central and South America; and Novak (and its variants) topped the lists of numerous Slavic countries. I did include Nowak - the Polish form of the name - but only because of the "w" and the uniqueness of that spelling. I put both the Swedish and Danish names on the quiz, too, but their naming systems are distinct - the Swedes have, by and large, "-son" as a suffix, while the Danes have the similar but different "-sen". |
