Crime can range from robbery to kidnapping - it doesn't have to be high scale murder etc. Firstly, the population of Somalia is less than 10 million (around 9 million) whereas the population of japan is like twelve times as Somalia (around 120 million)

Perhaps you should mention that less than half of the 197 countries provided statistics! It's also quite interesting that your source says this at the bottom: "Crime statistics are often better indicators of prevalence of law enforcement and willingness to report crime, than actual prevalence"

In a country like Somalia, who would you even report a crime to?

Mykl : Well the bottom 197 countries of the world, don't even have a population of over 2 Million.

@Mobin: ?? That doesn't make sense. I'm not talking about the quiz, I'm talking about the source. Only 80 countries provided crime statistics (plus Hong Kong and, bizarrely, Montserrat), so this top ten is just a top ten of those 82. Some pretty big countries in terms of population did not provide any statistics: China, Pakistan, Brazil, Indonesia, Egypt, Australia, Nigeria, Iran, Vietnam...doesn't mean they don't have a huge number of crimes.

Simply because those countries may not have disclosed their records.

Which is what I said in both of my comments! Because they haven't provided statistics, it makes the top ten a bit meaningless. It's a nice idea for a quiz, but you need a much better source.

Finding an accurate and fair source is an immense task - imagine gathering data from all 196 countries and territories. No source is perfect, each has it's weakness.
