| The Zimbabwe date is questionable. Although independence was not recognized for political reasons (and valid ones, I might add), there really is no question Rhodesia/Zimbabwe was de facto independent from 1965, whether we like it or not. This would be consistent with Taiwan which is not recognized (again for political reasons) as independent from PRC by most countries, but which functions, de facto, as an independent entity, and is treated as such by Sporcle. I like the quiz, though as a concept. |
